BES Talkin’ Trash Winners

Students in Horry County Schools have been “Talkin’ Trash” for the past eight years. Each month, a different recyclable is collected by students at each school. The school that recycles the most items that month wins. Schools are judged based on the number of pounds collected per fourth grade students per month. There are three categories of schools based on the number of fourth grade students at each of the schools. Each month, the winning school from each of the three categories receives a plaque, a prize, and a visit from the Talkin’ Trash crew. Burgess Elementary has been announced as the Talkin’ Trash winner for our category for the month of October! Look for our fourth grade students as they are featured on TV 13! A special thank you to Mrs. Gillian McColgan and her fourth grade students and to Mrs. Jewel Gauger for all their hard work leading our recycling efforts.Start collecting now….we will recycle plastic bottles and jugs from October 29th—November 15th! Let’s win again!!
