Weather Emergencies - HorryCountySchools

In the event of inclement weather, a message will be posted on our home page and on HCS' TV12 letting you know of closings or delays. Information is also reported to all local television and radio stations.

Hurricane Instructions:

In the event of a threatening hurricane, schools may be closed to provide emergency shelters for evacuees. For a listing of schools and their locations that may be used as shelters, please visit the Red Cross web site at http://horrycounty.redcross.org

Before leaving your worksite for an emergency closing, please do the following:

Secure classroom equipment by covering it with plastic bags;
Secure outside trash cans and other loose objects;
Locate your telephone trees;
Know how to contact your supervisor in case you evacuate the area;
Monitor the radio or television for updates on school closings; delayed openings, and reopenings, and
Consider volunteering in the shelter nearest to your home.
