Standefer places second in South Carolina Art Honor Society competition

Mekayla Standefer, senior IB student at Socastee High School, won second place at the South Carolina Art Honor Society State Conference in Summerville with an oil painting that she created using a photograph she took of Sioux Indian teepees in South Dakota last summer. Standefer competed with art students from 17 high schools from across the state.

Standefer has been accepted to Winthrop University and Savannah College of Art and Design. She has been awarded a Palmetto Fellows Scholarship and has chosen to attend Winthrop University and major in studio art.
