Foreign Language on the School Report Card

The South Carolina Department of Education began a foreign language program assessment in 2007-08. Each year, one fourth of the state's high schools will  go through the assessment program according to the
rotation schedule. The grade that the school's foreign language program receives will be on the school's report card.

The process for submitting evidence during the assessment year is explained in the Submission Guide.

Schools submit their curriculum following the Unit Template. The Unit Template Overview explains the process to be followed in developing the units. Applicable Standards are included in each unit. South  Carolina Standards for World Languages are divided by benchmark stages: Beginning, Developing, and Expanding.

During a school's assessment year, each Foreign Language teacher will submit two lesson plans following the Lesson Plan Template.

Each Foreign Language teacher will also submit two interim assessments following the Interim Assessment Template.
