Physical Science Honors Consensus Map 2011-2012

The Consensus Map lists the activities (in a time frame) that all Horry County Students are expected to complete and thus serves as the Core Horry County Science Curriculum, as well as the district pacing guide. In addition to listing the essential activities, the consensus map also provides for each activity:

A Description of the activity
Key Concepts an Processes addressed in the activity
An estimation of the number of 45 minute teaching periods required for the activity
One or two assessment questions that capture the essence of the essential learning for the activity
A list of the South Carolina Academic standards that the activity is meant to address

Support Guide

The South Carolina Support Guide provides an explanation of the depth and breath that each indicator is meant to cover at the particular grade level. In addition, the Standards Support Guide outlines for each indicator of each standard:

The detail to which this topic is covered in previous and future grade levels
A description of the depth and breath of the understandings and skills that students in this grade level will be required to know at the end of the year
A list of selected understandings and skills that students in this grade level will not be required to know
A list of ways that the student may be assessed on this topic
