Field-Trip Registration Directions for Horry County Schools Employees

2. Print-out the pre-visit information for your grade level and/or camp from our website. http://www.horrycountyschools.net/departments/learningservices/playcard_center/
3. Fill-out the use of facility sheet e-mailed as confirmation to your online registration or already on file with your school’s book keeper and give this sheet to the Playcard teacher upon arrival at the Environmental Education Center.

4. Special events such as Baby Animal Day open to k-1st grade students must be registered in advance by calling Ben Abercrombie (843) 756-1277.
*SwampFest is our annual environmental education open house the first Saturday in November every year. No registration required (Public invited admission is FREE!)
Cost of day field experience:
$2 per child per day trip ($35 minimum charge). Day trips limited to two classes per day or a 50 student limit.
No cost for chaperones. Chaperones strongly encouraged to attend.
Cost of overnight experience:
$15 per person per overnight experience. Evening meal and morning breakfast provided. Please bring first and/or second day’s bag lunch, healthy snacks, and extra beverages.
(Camp-outs limited to Thursday nights only throughout the school year)
Field trip limited to one class per overnight experience.
* Note: Chaperones significantly contribute to the educational program and are strongly encouraged to attend. 1:5 student to chaperone ratio is not mandatory but enhances the experience significantly.
Outdoor Tips: Please bring a bag lunch, old closed toe shoes, insect repellant, sunscreen, and a wide-brimmed hat during field experiences. A full change of clothes is mandatory for overnight camp-outs. A camera, field journal, and lots of enthusiasm and curiosity are highly recommended.
**Please make the Playcard staff aware of any special arrangements and/or special needs that the students may have before your arrival. Severe allergic reactions to bee stings, foods, plants, and/or fire ants need to be communicated to Playcard staff.
