(posted on November 23, 2009)

MBH Academic Olympics ChampionsIn an exciting double elimination match, Myrtle Beach High School defeated first runner-up Carolina Forest High School, to win the Championship of Horry County Schools' annual Academic Olympics which was held at Coastal Carolina University. The district’s high schools participated in the fast-paced games in which students are challenged to answer questions on many different subjects including math, literature, history, science, current events, and sports. After each question is asked by a moderator, the students "buzz in" to answer and win points for their team in a quiz bowl style format.

Myrtle Beach High team members are: Haley Horstemeyer, Jeremy Ludemann, Cheyenne Lloyd, Leah Horstemeyer, Jason Herman. Their coaches are Leslie Carter and Amanda Dimovitz.

Conway High School was 2nd Runner Up and St. James High School was 3rd Runner Up in the tournament.
