Bill 3161 addresses adequate seating on buses, annual inspections of buses, a reduction of the walking distance between a student's home and bus stop from five-tenths to three-tenths of one mile with greater reductions taken for students in earlier grades, a grant system for possible reimbursement from the State for costs associated with hazardous stops and alternate routes, and a fifteen-year replacement cycle for State owned buses.
