What do I do with my information?

Now that I've found some information what do I do with it?

As previously recommended you should be keeping note cards for each resource you find. These note cards provide you with a summary of the information you found, as well as contain information that you will use to cite your resources. Your teacher probably has provided you with guidelines on how to cite each resource. If not you need to ask him/her for this information.

As you collect this information you might want or need to clarify your essential question, which is the focus of your research. If your teacher agrees, be flexible if you need to expand or narrow the focus of your research.  This is also a good time to evaluate the quality of the information found, especially when using electronic resources.  A good source that will help you accomplish this is Thinking Critically about WWW Resources.
