• About Us

Located in Conway, the county seat of "The Independent Republic of Horry County", Conway High has long been a source of community pride for this historic city situated along the banks of the Waccamaw River and just a short drive from the Atlantic coast.

In 1968, Conway High School and Whittemore High School (the city's African-American high school) merged following desegregation. In the early years, Conway High's colors were green and white, and many years later their colors changed to green, white, and orange, while Whittemore's were purple and gold. The two schools elected to make the new colors of present-day Conway High School green, white, and gold, and also to keep the "Tiger" as the school's mascot (Whittemore's teams were known as the "Bulldogs"). The school has since had notable academic achievements such as the Palmetto Gold and Silver award. Also, the National Renaissance program was started at Conway in the early '80s. The school is also rated "Excellent" on the state report card.

Our school's strong academic tradition is carried on by an enthusiastic, experienced faculty and is reinforced by parent and community organizations such as the Conway High School Parent-Teacher-Student Organization and the Conway High School Educational Foundation.  Our students, parents, faculty, and staff work collaboratively to ensure high academic standards, a wide base of community support, and a safe, secure learning environment.
