  • Think college is not for you? Think again. The HCS Early College High School (ECHS) seeks students who are in the academic middle on achievement scores and who represent diverse backgrounds and are highly motivated.

The HCS Early College High School (ECHS) is a small, personalized learning environment for students enrolled in Horry County Schools (HCS). Located on Horry Georgetown Technical College’s (HGTC) Conway campus, this program is designed so that students may earn a high school diploma and possibly complete up to two years of college credit at the same time.

Current eighth grade students from all HCS middle schools who are in the academic middle on achievement tests and are not identified as gifted and talented are eligible to apply. The goal of Early College is to make a college education possible for capable students who may think it is out of their reach. Students who attend Early College take rigorous coursework, participate in service-learning projects, and benefit from career life planning, counseling, and academic coaching—all to make sure students have the preparation needed to achieve their educational goals. There is no cost to district students who attend Early College. If you have additional questions, please contact us at 349-3131.

The application period takes place in December and January.
