Whether you are new or returning to Horry County Schools find out everything you need to know about getting registered. Registration for grades K-12 begins April 9. Registration for all other new and returning students begins May 1.
First Time Registration

Acceptable documents include current utility bills, a current and signed rental agreement, an approved transfer form, proof of guardianship, or a valid receipt and letter on property letterhead indicating the student is staying in a hotel or rental condo on a long term basis.
Returning Students Registration
Returning students who completed the 2016-17 school year in an Horry County School should visit the Parent Portal and follow instructions provided to register a returning student for the 2017-2018 school year. Once you have logged into the Portal, click on the white arrow icon to access Online Registration. Please contact your school if you have not received any information regarding registration.
Students who wish to attend a school other than the school they are assigned to based upon their place of residence are required to complete an application for a student transfer.
HCS does not provide transportation for approved elective transfers. Transfers may be denied if the school requested in the transfer is at or over capacity. Students who have been newly accepted to, or are returning to, the Scholars Academy, the HCS Early College High School, the STEM program, the Academy for Arts, Science and Technology, or the Academy for Technology and Academics do not have to apply for a transfer. District transportation is provided for these programs from the student’s base high school.

Kindergarten is both an exciting and jittery time for both parents and students. We created a video to show parents and students what Kindergarten at Horry County Schools is all about.
Child Development/Pre-Kindergarten Programs
HCS offers Child Development (4-year-old) programs at each of our elementary schools*.
