I have an endorsement in Gifted and Talented Learning and extended course work in Library and Media studies. I find 5th grade a phenomenal grade to teach. My name is Janet Collins. I have been teaching for 29 years, all at Homewood Elementary. I am married to Tony Collins. We have two children, Hannah and Hunter. I have a BA in Elem. Ed., a MA in Instructional Technology, and am National Board Certified. I attend High Point Baptist Church. I love working in the yard, spending time with family and friends and playing the piano.

I was born in Horry County and I'm a graduate of North Myrtle Beach High School. I'm the youngest of eight children. My late husband, Elbert C. Hutchinson, and I have a beautiful goddaughter, who lives in Atlanta, Georgia. I attended SC State College and received a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education. I have 32 years of experience as a teacher, teacher specialist, curriculum coach, and a staff development consultant. I am National Board Certified in Middle Childhood Generalist. This is my second year teaching fifth grade at Homewood Elementary School.

I have taught for 27 years. I have a BA in early childhood and Masters plus 30 in elementary ed with gifted and talented endorsement. I love spending time with my daughter and my church family. I believe that every child can learn and it is my goal to find the key that unlocks the knowledge of each child.
