  • Greetings, Lion Family!

It is with great pleasure, excitement, and gratitude that I welcome you all back for the 2022-2023 school year. As a native of the Loris community and a graduate of Loris High School, I am honored and thankful at the start of each school year, to embark upon a new journey of leading a school that possesses such great staff, students, parents, and community.

I have 18 years of experience as an educator. During this time, I taught business education, worked as a behavior specialist, coached football, basketball, track, and soccer. I began my journey in administration in 2012 as an Assistant Principal and then served as the Principal of SOAR Academy. I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Georgia Southern University and a Master of Education in Administration from Grand Canyon University.

As your principal, I firmly believe in building positive and edifying relationships with staff, students, parents, and community stakeholders. We will continue to educate the whole child by preparing students for college, careers, and life after graduation. Our theme at Loris High School is #bringingprideback. Our faculty and staff are working hard to make LHS a premier educational institution that ranks among the top-performing high schools, both academically and athletically. Together, we will excel at Loris High School. To accomplish this goal, we set high expectations for all stakeholders; ensure our teachers deliver authentic and meaningful instruction with a high level of rigor; and require our coaches to prepare every athlete for success on the playing field. In addition, we also value our students' emotional health. On our campus, we emphasize the power of positive relationships, and we strive to make our school a safe haven for all who enter. We have numerous counselors on site and regularly incorporate incentives to reward positive behavior and/or scholastic or athletic achievements. We pride ourselves on family values and work to make our school feel like home.

At LHS, safety is a top priority. We take every possible measure to ensure the protection of every student and staff member. We have one school resource officer and one school safety officer who are always on site during the school day. Every day, all students and visitors must pass through a metal detector and bag search immediately after entering our doors. We require classroom doors to remain locked at all times, and we practice regular, routine safety drills. We believe we can not be over-prepared for a crisis.

In closing, I consider education to be a lifelong process, and I am excited to be on this journey with such an amazing school community that is centered around family values. I look forward to working with you and welcome your input. I believe parent and community involvement is vital to the success of students and I encourage you to be involved in every way possible. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have throughout the year. We are Lions and we will continue to achieve excellence!

    Respectfully,

    Jimmy McCullough
