Archery Club

  • We are proud to offer Archery as part of our physical education curriculum for grades third, fourth and fifth. This “National Archery in the School” (NASP) program is sponsored by the Department of Natural Resources. The DNR provided the initial equipment and training. The archery education program was started in Kentucky in 2002 and spreading throughout the United States.

Mission of NASP: The National Archery in the Schools Program promotes international-style target archery as part of the in-school curriculum, to improve educational performance and participation in the shooting sports among students in grades 4-12.

Archery became part of the physical education curriculum at Lakewood in 2004. The Department of Natural Resources trained and supplied the equipment. Since 2004 we have doubled our equipment and added an archery team that represents Lakewood in the District, State and National Championship. This is an exciting part of the physical education program and our school. We are very grateful to Department of Natural Resources for this opportunity.
