Students and Parents
HCS Virtual serves students who attend a brick and mortar school in the district by allowing students to "get ahead" or "catch up." Students may take courses online to supplement their course schedules at school. Many of the students we serve choose to take at least one course online to become better prepared for college.
HCS Virtual is a program designed in partnership with our local public schools to expand the access to challenging curricula through the delivery of high quality online courses. Launched in 2009, HCS Virtual provides students with online course options for advanced placement, honors, regular and credit recovery coursework. HCS Virtual also supports the enrollment of students in courses offered through the state’s online learning program, VirtualSC.
The links on the left will assist in making sure that students get the most from their virtual school experience and that parents are equipped with the necessary information to support them in the process.
ADVISEMENT FOR STUDENT ATHLETES- The NCAA has very strict guidelines regarding credit for courses taken online. Some online courses may not be approved by the NCAA. Before enrolling in any online class, be sure to consult with your high school’s athletic director and your guidance counselor to determine if the online course that you are considering is approved for credit by the NCAA.
