  • What Students are Doing:

    In September, the third grade students took an inventory of our car line to see how many of the cars waiting from 2:00 -2:30 had their cars turned off compared to those that were running. Each month, the students go outside with sign made encouraging parents and bus drivers to keep their engines off and to take further inventory to checked for improved numbers.

    What Students are Learning:

    The students learn about renewable and nonrenewable resources, the damaging effects of fuel exhaust on air quality, and how idling cars can affect our gardens (fuel exhaust and acid rain).

    How the Students Teach Others:

    Students create signs and brochures for the cars that are waiting, explaining the damaging effects of idling cars.
