• Date and Time

    The 2018 AAST Senior Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 19, at 11 a.m. on the campus of Coastal Carolina University inside the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center.  

    Location

    The HTC Center is located on the campus of Coastal Carolina University at 104 Founders Drive. Tickets are not required.  Seating is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The ceremony should last approximately one and one half hours. CCU provides event security and will make use of metal detectors and bag searches on site.  Allow time for these procedures when planning your arrival.

    Schedule

    Doors will open at approximately 10:00 am for guests. Seniors will need to arrive at 8:00 am for Senior Ceremony practice.

    Seniors will enter the HTC practice prior to Senior Ceremony for practice and will line up in the hallway behind the HTC center.  Space is limited in this hallway, therefore family and friends may not enter the back hallway. After the ceremony, students will return to this hallway to retrieve their belongings and will then proceed to the front of the HTC Center.  Families plan to meet their seniors in the front concourse or front lawn by the fountain. This is a lovely area for photos! Please be sure to keep exits clear as it will be congested as everyone exits the building.

    There will be a live feed of the ceremony played on all of the monitors inside the HTC Center, should family members with small children need to leave the room, they will still be able to enjoy the ceremony from the concourse.

    Video Recording

    The entire ceremony will be played live throughout the HTC Center.  Cameras will be used to project close-ups of Senior Ceremony Speakers onto large screens inside the HTC Center.  The event will be recorded by CCU and made available to Seniors and families at no charge after the event. Please allow at least a week for editing.

    Parking

    Seniors and guests will park in the GG lot which is easily accessed from the Hwy 501 entrance to CCU.  Continuous, complimentary shuttle service will be provided from the GG lot to the HTC Center. Parking anywhere other than the GG lot could result in parking tickets or towing by CCU Campus Police.  AAST will not be responsible for any parking fines incurred by students or guests.

     

    Guidelines

    As this is a ceremonial event, we ask that all guests conduct themselves befitting the occasion. Alcohol is expressly forbidden. Fireworks, glassware, bottles, weapons, firearms, signs and other items that could contribute to hazardous conditions are not allowed and will be confiscated. Anyone with items deemed to be unsafe or to be safety hazards will be asked to leave the ceremony. Because they detract from the ceremony, noisemakers, umbrellas, balloons, balls or blow-up objects of any kind are prohibited. Guests are not permitted in the senior seating area and are to remain seated during the entire ceremony. Taking pictures and videotaping is allowed, but tripods and monopods are not permitted. Cameras must be battery-operated and patrons must remain seated while taking photographs and videotaping. No strollers, car seats or baby carriers of any kind will be allowed in the seating area.

    Special Assistance

    Students or family members that require special parking, seating, disabled access or assisted hearing devices, etc., should request them using this form by May 14th, 2018.

    Handicap Seating

    Handicap seating areas have been provided for this ceremony, which is located on the floor level of the HTC Center.  Although we don’t anticipate running out of space with an event of this size, handicap seating space is limited. We can provide one companion seat next to each handicap seating space.  Additional guests in your party may need to sit nearby outside the handicap seating area. This seating area is first-come, first-served. Volunteers will be on hand for assistance.

    Hearing Impaired Services

    Assisted listening devices are available for use inside the HTC Center. You may request them in advance with this form.
