Santee Cooper Visits GIS Tech 1 Class

Two representatives, Mr. Leigh Rabon and Ms. Sherri Linen, visited our classroom on November 18th. They gave us insight on how Santee Cooper uses GIS technology to manage the power grid for Horry County and beyond. The data collected is very specific, down to the most recent light pole installed. Their employees use very precise instruments for notating locations. Having GIS training will benefit students in professions that architecture, conservation, surveying, utilities, and construction. Many governmental agencies require these skills.
