Let us introduce you to.......
Mrs. Vernetta Dekine
Vernetta Dekine is the newest addition to the Conway Adult Education Team for the 19-20 school term in Horry County. She is a native of Georgetown, SC where she resides within the Plantersville area.
Mrs. Dekine is an alumnus of SC State University where she received her BS degree in Civil Engineering and the Citadel where she received her Masters degree in Reading. She has also obtained 30 plus hours in Education from various colleges and universities over the years. She was a National Board-Certified teacher and was honored as her school’s Teacher of the Year for three years.
Mrs. Dekine is a retired mathematics teacher of 27 years from Georgetown County where she spent 22 years in the classroom teaching middle and high school level students and 5 years as a Curriculum Coach where she provided resources and administrative information to the faculty. Mrs. Dekine has been a part-time employee for the State Department of Education for 10 years as a PACE Instructor where she trains novice teachers about the education profession.
Mrs. Dekine has been married to Tom Dekine for 34 years and they have four children who have all graduated from college, a son-in-law and a gorgeous grandson who means the world to her.
Her passion for students and education has drawn her back into the classroom to assist participants in becoming successful GED/High School Diploma recipients as well as help them to obtain skills and technical training for the workforce.
