The Cosmetology program at ATA prepares students to pass the SC State Board of Cosmetology examination to become licensed Cosmetologists. Students practice and perform all phases of cosmetology-related skills in our school-based salon. Hair shaping, styling, and coloring, chemical services, manicuring, and skin care are all part of the curriculum. After completing a total of 1000 hours of training over two years and passing the state exam, students will be fully prepared to enter the workforce after graduation as licensed Cosmetologists.
My name is Christina Stanley Cox. I have been a cosmetologist for 29 years. I have owned my own salon since 1996 and have had the privilege of mentoring students from the surrounding county in achieving their goals in the salon setting. In 2009 I decided to further my education and become a cosmetology instructor. Since then I have worked for Miller Motte , Horry Georgetown Technical College and I am currently with Horry County Schools teaching at The Academy for Technology and Academics. In 2019 I instructed senior students in the South Carolina Association of Cosmetology Schools competition in Columbia S.C. Students were entered in 5 categories ,out of the 5 categories the group brought home 4 trophies, 1 being first place in the state for Bridal Updo.
This year I am very privileged to serve as Teacher of the Year at the Academy for Technology and Academics.
Cosmetology has always been a part of Ms. Huggins's life. While attending Green Sea Floyds High School during the day, Ms. Huggins attended night classes to earn her cosmetology license. After graduating she went into business with her mother, running a successful local salon: Eunice's Beauty Salon- Styles by Eunice and Sabrina. She earned a Business Certificate and an Associates Degree in Occupational Technology with a major in General Technology. She has been teaching cosmetology with Horry County Schools for 22 years and plans to continue sharing her passion for cosmetology with her students.
