Health Science- Certified Medical Administrative Assistant
The Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (or CMAA) program at ATA prepares students for an exciting career in the medical profession. Through both hands-on classroom experiences and participation in an internship at a local hospital, students will develop the skills necessary to obtain certification in CPR and OSHA. They will also be prepared for the CMAA exam. By passing this exam, students will be qualified to obtain employment as a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant directly after high school.
A lifelong love of science and desire to care for others led me to pursue a career in nursing. I received a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Francis Marion University and have been a Registered Nurse for 10 years. My clinical experience is in the areas of critical care, home health, and hospice. During that time, I worked in various roles including staff nurse, nursing preceptor/trainer, charge nurse, and clinical manager. I began teaching Health Science 4 years ago with a desire to cultivate a love for learning and a passion for healthcare in students pursuing a career in the healthcare industry. I teach the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant students and serve as an advisor of our school’s HOSA chapter.
