To qualify for NAEHS membership, adult education students must demonstrate dependable attendance; a cooperative attitude; and significant work ethic. Adult Education teachers nominated and selected qualified candidates from more than 1000 students currently earning a high school equivalency certificate or high school diploma or learning English as a Second Language.
The mission of the National Adult Education Honor Society is to provide meaningful recognition to deserving adult education students, to improve student employment opportunities, to develop student ambassadors for local adult education programs, and to create adult education awareness with school administrators and state legislators.
Each honoree must commit to sharing with their communities what adult education has meant to them and to encourage family and friends to take advantage of local adult education program offerings. When inducted, each honoree receives an NAEHS certificate and gold, black and white lapel pin.
