Registration for the 2021 New Teacher Academy is Now Open
Welcome to Horry County Schools! We are glad you have chosen to teach in our school system, and we are eager to help you get ready for your students. Please plan to attend Horry County Schools’ 2021 New Teacher Academy starting on Monday, July 26, 2021. The academy is designed specifically for teachers who are new to the profession and/or new to Horry County Schools.
New Teacher Academy is a four-day event. Sessions will be hosted by district specialists on July 26-27 from 8:00 am-3:30 pm. School-based sessions will be held on August 3-4. Academy sessions will focus on research-based practices, including effective instructional strategies and classroom management. The exact format of this event will be determined at a later date and will be shared with participants. Participation is not mandatory, but is highly recommended. Because this event takes place prior to the contracted school year, most participating educators will receive a stipend for attending sessions.
Pre-registration is required, so we can plan appropriately for sessions.
All educators attending New Teacher Academy should also plan to pick up their assigned laptop and docking station during the week of July 20 – July 23 between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM from the technology department located in Building C at the District Office. If you have specific questions about the pick-up process, please contact Missy Johnson (firstname.lastname@example.org). Educators will need to bring their devices to New Teacher Academy.
