  • High School Class Meetings and Points Info

Posted by Jennifer Myers on 4/28/2020 4:00:00 PM

    Dear Eagle Family,

I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy.  We are happy to announce that HCEC students will have the opportunity to earn their way back to their base school during this school closure period. To earn points needed to return to their base schools students will need to earn points the following ways:

    1. Academics- Middle school students will continue to work in Edgenuity for 3 hours a day, and High school students will be required to complete 4 hours a day.  If a high school student has elective classes, their academic points will come from that elective teacher.

    2. Attendance- Students are encouraged to work daily in Edgenuity.  The attendance points will be calculated by their daily work.  In order for students to earn this point, participation in their classes is a must.  Please contact your child's teacher if you are having issues.

    3. Advisory-  Advisory teachers will continue to have advisory during their regularly scheduled time.  Please contact your child's teacher if you are having issues with the advisory time. Rather than try to meet every day which may cause conflicts, continue to try to meet one day a week earning 1 point.  Additional points can be earned by doing the assignments on the student's own time.  Some independent assignments can earn 1 point, other assignments could earn 2 or 3 points depending on the length.

    4. Discipline-Students will earn 1 pt daily if they do not have any discipline issues reported by staff members during this time.

    5. Community service- Students will have an opportunity to join a class session that will have different activities during this time.  Each class will be an hour long.  If a student needs 1 hr of community service, that student will be required to complete 1 session.  If a student needs 5 hrs of community service, that student will be required to complete 5 sessions.

Once students have completed all of their requirements, students will be contacted to complete the SOAR requirements.  All students are encouraged to have passing grades.  More information will follow about SOAR.  If students complete everything, they will have the opportunity to return to their base school at the start of the next school year.

We will host an open forum for students and parents to be able to ask questions pertaining to points.

    The meeting times are:

Wednesday, April 29th at 8:00 am, 2:00 pm, and 4:00 pm

Friday, May 1st at 11:00 am
