In order to receive a South Carolina High School Diploma you must complete the following 24 credits (also known as units).
FOUR UNITS OF ENGLISH: Completion of CP or Honors English I, II, III, and IV will meet this criteria.
FOUR UNITS OF MATHEMATICS
THREE UNITS OF SCIENCE: Three LABORATORY science credits are needed for 4-year colleges in South Carolina. Physical Science and Earth Science and any Science not requiring Biology and/or Chemistry as a prerequisite will NOT meet this requirement.
THREE UNITS OF SOCIAL STUDIES: One unit of U.S. History, one-half unit of Economics and one-half unit in Government are required.
ONE UNIT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE OR ONE CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY UNIT: Two units of the same foreign language are required to attend a 4-year college in South Carolina. Some schools require more.
SEVEN UNITS OF ELECTIVE COURSES: One fine arts unit is required for 4-year colleges in Couth Carolina.
ONE UNIT IN COMPUTER SCIENCE
ONE UNIT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION OR ROTC
