Will HCS employees be paid during the school closure period?
All regular full-time, part-time employees, and long-term substitutes will continue to be paid during the mandated closure.
- A full-time employee is defined as an employee who works 30 hours or more per week, has established work schedule, and is employed for 180 days or more. This would include teachers, bus drivers, paraprofessionals, cafeteria workers, and other classified and professional staff. Their pay is typically spread over 24 equal payments.
- A part-time employee is defined as an employee who works at least 20 hours or less than 30 hours per week, has established work schedule and is employed for 180 days or more. Their pay is typically spread over 24 equal payments.
- A long-term substitute is defined as an employee who is working in a position for more than ten days. Long-term substitutes providing instructional services will be paid during the mandated closure.
- Temporary employees are those employees who are paid via a timesheet for the hours that they work. Their hours of work and/or workdays will typically vary. As the buildings are not open, they will not be paid under the mandated closure.
- Regular substitutes are those employees who are paid when a teacher/staff member is unavailable to work. Their place of work and/or workdays will typically vary. As the buildings are not open, they will not be paid under the mandated closure.
