Irish fact for today: It is estimated that as many as 4.5 million Irish arrived in America between 1820 and 1930. Between 1820 and 1860, the Irish constituted over one-third of all immigrants to the United States.
Today is also International Women’s Day. Let us celebrate the social, economic, and political achievements of women around the world. The day also brings international awareness to gender parity. Are you interested in environmental issues? Do you love the ocean and the beach? Would you like to create some positive change? The Socastee Ocean Club will have its first meeting soon. If you are interested, please see Mr. Hendrix in Room 319, or email him for meeting details.
In March of 2020, Covid-19 destroyed normal life as we know it and took away some of our favorite past times including live entertainment. Only two days after schools closed, Broadway went completely dark and hasn’t returned since. Until NOW! This spring, Socastee Performing Arts will help to revive Broadway with a review of the best shows of 2020. We will cover songs from hits like Beetlejuice, Mean Girls, and Hamilton. Come show off your skills and try something new. We are currently looking for talented singers, dancers, and actors. Auditions will be held Monday, March 8th. For audition information and instructions, you will need to join the Musical Google Classroom. The code is yi62nLb. This code will also be available on flyers all around the school and specifically located on the bulletin board outside the Chorus room. Tech positions are also available. Come have fun with us and help bring Broadway back to life!!
