The dog was alone again, nothing but old toys under her bed to amuse itself. He often focused on her blue balloon dog ornament.
He gazed at the pink balloon dog, suddenly beside him, a ring over its leg. The golden cat, separated from the darkness with its glimmering boots, ruffled its feathered hat, seeking out any presence of danger. A unicorn showered them with coins and houses, as if to congratulate them on a marriage. The dog looked down at his paws to see there were none, they had been replaced with round blue balloon feet.
Elated, he pranced around with so called riches and the love of his life until the day set in. He awoke to the realization of a dream. Owner still away, he closed his eyes once more, gazing upon that blue dog.

I find my creative inspiration in my love for sewing. My aunt taught me over ten years ago how to operate a sewing machine and it has grown to be my passion. Over the years I have been growing my knowledge and technique in hopes of one day becoming a designer. Throughout my design process, I go through a lot of trial and error, but the end result is always worth it. I think that being able to express myself through my designs is one of my favorite parts of sewing, because I am able to be so creative and share my talents with others. For this dress in particular, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and experiment with mixed media. I think that experimenting with new materials is one of the best ways to grow my skill.

Why is it that we have such a desperate desire to modify our bodies and face in the attempt to meet the beauty standard? Little by little, we tweak our appearance, mold our entire being to become just another one of the societal machines' perfect clones. But, what happens when perfect in unachievable? What happens when you lose all of the traits that gave you a sense of individuality? The only person that gains from this are big brands and the beauty industry. They have your identity and self worth in their hands and sell you back the self-confidence they took away through unideal beauty norms they created. If we continue to allow ourselves to fall into this trap, who are we, really?

There's a space between the first moment you wake up and when you let your feet hit the floor, when your mind adjusts to the day ahead of you and you shake the hold of sleep. In this space, you have the power to determine your path; will you approach each problem with determination to solve it? Will you seek out ways to express your creativity, speak your mind, and learn a new skill? Life is made up of the unexpected. Will you choose to live in vivid color?

From the moment you sit down to construct a piece of pottery, you have to be in a perfect state of mind and have a perfect image of what you want to make or you will not be able to fabricate your goal. Therefore, you need to know what you are doing. Ego, ID and Superego. ID will always be in the back of your mind saying, “get it done now”, rushing you through the process. Then, the superego will take over and want the pottery to do it’s own thing but pottery doesn’t work like that, you have to work the pottery, not let the pottery work you. That’s where the ego comes in, ego will tell you to work with it and not against it, letting you focus on what’s in front of you. With patience, focus and thought, anything can happen.

We are intertwined with nature. As we grow, the Earth does the same. Communal growth is what connects us. The caterpillar changes into a butterfly, the child changes to an adult. With each phase of our development, there is a stage in the development of nature. Not only does our change parallel the changes that occur in nature, it causes them. We are growing as a society; requiring more resources than ever before. Our increased consumption of the Earth has resulted in a changing environment, a decrease in biodiversity. Increased need for food has resulted in overuse of pesticides and the killing of non targeted butterflies. I hope this piece sparks a reflection of the viewers connection to nature and how they are working to preserve it.
