Battle of the Books
THE 2018-2019 DEADLINE IS JANUARY 7, 2019.
Battle of the Books is an optional reading program in which students read grade specific novels throughout the first semester. Students who read all the books on the list will form teams that will compete against each other with a winning team at each grade level. Teams have several rounds of competition, including a written test and a battle where students answer questions in a quiz show manner.
All questions asked during the competition begin with “In which book…” Students answer with the title of the book as well as the name of the author. It is important that students know characters, actions, plot, setting, and other details in the books.
We have great hopes that through this program, we are molding young pleasure readers! The reading of good literature from different genres, the practice of good sportsmanship, the development of leadership skills, and just plain fun are some of the many benefits students gain while participating in Battle of the Books here at Aynor Elementary School.
Students are required to read the books below and write five questions for each book. All questions must begin with "In which book..." and the answer to all of the questions would be the title and author of the book. Parents, we ask your help in modeling sample questions for your children. Please see that the questions are detailed about characters, plot, setting, etc.
Questions or comments... please contact Mrs. Rhonda Wells, our media specialist at firstname.lastname@example.org.
