Summertime’s calling! According to a recent study by NWEA, third through fifth graders lose an average of 20% of their school-year gains in reading over the summer break. Help your students avoid the summer slide with the Summer Reading Training Camp! 

Horry County schools are partnering again with Malcolm Mitchell’s Share the Magic Foundation for a summer READCamp. At St. James Elementary, students who earn Champion status by reading 8 books will earn an ice cream treat. Students who earn MVP status by reading 12 books will earn an ice cream treat AND a VIP library pass to check out an extra book!

Information on how to register and paper reading logs will also be sent home, so be on the lookout. Have a wonderful summer, and happy reading!
