Greetings BWMS Families,
Thank you for another great week of school! Please be advised that we have early dismissal for students on Friday, January 13th. Students will be dismissed from school beginning at 1:00 pm. Monday, January 16th, and Tuesday, January 17th are student holidays. Students will not attend school on these days. Students will return to school/class on Wednesday, January 18th.
As you know, the second quarter of school ends on Friday, January 13th. If you have any questions in regard to work and or grades please contact your child’s teacher directly. If a student is not meeting the requirements for grade level promotion, you will be contacted to schedule a conference to discuss your student's academic performance. We know and understand that it takes a continued and committed relationship between home and school to ensure that all students are successful.
The Horry County Schools grade requirements for promotion are: Students must successfully pass each of the four academic subjects (language arts, math, science, and social studies. Specific criteria for failure to pass the four academic subjects are below:
-
Students who fail more than two academic subjects (ELA, math, Science, or Social Studies) will be retained in the current grade level.
-
Students who fail one or two academic subjects must attend summer school and pass the necessary subjects during summer school to be promoted to the next grade level.
We are working diligently to ensure that our students are completing all assignments. The expectation is that students complete their assignments on or before the due date established by the teacher.
We offer After School tutoring (PAWS) for all students who need additional support in their academic classes. Bus transportation is provided if needed.
Sincerely,
Principal Gore
