Beta Club
Beta Club
Academic honor society to recognize the accomplishments of 9th through 12th graders.
How to Join
MBHS students who have completed a minimum of one semester of high school earned a 3.5 weighted GPA or higher, and have no level three discipline offenses or higher receive an invitation to join BETA Club. Invitation letters are distributed in February of each school year and a formal induction ceremony is held in the spring.
Typical Activities
We participate in community service activities as the officers and seniors lead. Our biggest service event of the year is assisting with the Myrtle Beach Marathon. Community service hours are no longer required by BETA Club, but they are recommended.

The International Thespian Society is the only theater honor society in the country. ITS recognizes, rewards, and encourages student achievement.

How to be Inducted into ITS:

Accrue 100+ service hours in Theatre (hours will accumulate for higher accolades).

Participate in all Theatre productions at MBH.

Have no disciplinary issues.

Students must go through an application process. Students must be eligible to apply to the society. The requirements are as follows:

The mission of the Myrtle Beach High School National Art Honors Society is to foster meaningful engagement in the arts by creating a culture where young artists thrive. We are making a positive impact in our community through the power of the arts.
How to Join

National English Honor Society
National English Honor Society
The National English Honor Society recognizes students that excel in the English Language Arts.
How to Join
Membership requires students to maintain at least a 3.25 GPA in their English classes. Invitations to join are usually issued in the fall to students who have completed at least two years of high school English.
Typical Activities
Perks of membership include national recognition, scholarship opportunities, writing contests, reading groups, and a network for support in English at the next level.

The National Honor Society (NHS) elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four pillars have been associated with membership in the organization since its inception in 1921. Our purpose is to instill those values through member activities, community service, and school spirit.
How to Join
Students must have and maintain a 3.8 weighted cumulative average in order to be eligible and be in excellent disciplinary standing.
Typical Activities

Meetings every third Thursday of the month first thing in the morning, or after school.

Community activities like book drives, Polar Plunge, Retirement Home volunteering, and school and beach clean-ups.

The goal of the society is to see deserving technical students be recognized and that people of the community become aware of the talents and abilities of the young people and adults who choose technical education pathways to a successful future.
How to Join
Eligibility requirements for the National Technical Honor Society are based on the student’s grade point average of 3.0 or above, the successful academic completion of 2 or more courses in Career and Technical Education, 11th or 12th grader, and be nominated by a CTE teacher.

Community service projects included Beach Sweep, Toy Drives, Campus Cleanup, Holidays for Soldiers, etc.

Four (1) Credit Courses in the Field of Social Studies

Government and Economics are combined for one credit

The student's combined Social Studies GPA must be a 4.0 or higher

No incidents of Academic Dishonesty.

No Horry County School Infractions that led to ISS or OSS

Science National Honors Society is an academic nationwide honor society focused on science for high school students in the United States. The society was established in 2000 in Texas and has expanded to over 1733 schools in all 50 states.
How to Join
