• We have several wonderful summer reading opportunities. Reading over the summer is a great opportunity to read just for the fun of reading.... 

    But you also have the opportunity to turn that reading into prizes and extra credit. Here are a few different resources for you this summer! 

  • The HCS Summer Reading Assignment for grades 6-12 is an optional reading opportunity for students to read over the course of the summer, complete an activity about the reading, and receive 1 bonus point added to the first quarter grade in the 2023-24 school year. The student may read 2 books (fiction or nonfiction) OR 20 informational text articles of his/her choice and must complete the reading activity in the 2023 MS ELA Summer Reading Challenge Schoology Course or 2023 HS ELA Summer Reading Challenge Schoology Course by Friday, July 28, 2023.

  • What is READCamp?

    READCamp is our free virtual summer reading training camp for kids grades PreK-8th. Tackle the Summer Slide with Head Coach Malcolm Mitchell. Stay in great reading shape and have fun this summer.

    READCamp Opens Memorial Day May 29 and runs through Labor Day September 4, 2023

    Students- register at READCamp (www.readwithmalcolm.com/readcamp).   If under the age of 13 an adult must register the student. 

    In order to become a READCamp MVP, students must read 12 books and complete a written reading log.  You can print out a new reading log is here.

  • During the summer, you have access to all the BWMS ebooks... but SORA also does a 'Sweet Reads' collection. All the books in the Sweet Reads have unlimited copies so you will never have to wait to read it over the summer!

    Lots to explore. You can read them on any personal laptop, tablets, phones, etc!

  • Your public library is a great place to go with the whole family during summer! But if you can't get to the building, they have electronic resources for books, magazines, audio books and more!
