Dress Code
Burgess Elementary School follows Horry County School's Dress Code Policy.

Appropriate attire for learning and safety is most important. Any form of wearing apparel that is unsafe, unhealthy, indecent or that may tend to disrupt class will not be permitted.
Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times. Tennis shoes are to be worn for Physical Education class.
Short shorts, short skirts, halter tops, and midriff shirts and shirts with spaghetti straps are not acceptable.
Tank top straps should be the width of the first two fingers.
Pants and belts should be worn at the appropriate height (at the waistline).
Hats and/or hoods should not be worn at any time in the building.
During extremely hot weather students may wear shorts of adequate length to assure modesty when the student is seated or engaged in school activities.
