Bibliotherapy is the practice of encouraging reading for therapeutic effect. It is believed that by reading certain materials one may gain at times a better understanding of a personal situation, problem or condition as well as for the enjoyment of reading. Identifying with characters in a book who are experiencing similar problems or feelings can help some people feel less alone and gain insight into their own feelings and emotions.
Please note that books are not a substitute for professional care.
