International Thespian Society
The International Thespian Society was established in 1929. It is named for Thespis, the ancient Greek who according to legend became the first actor. The Society’s guiding principle is a dedication to excellence in educational theatre.
(ITS) is an internationally recognized honor society for high school and middle school theatre students. It is a division of the Educational Theatre Association. Thespian troupes serve students in grades 9-12; Students earn membership in the society by participating in high school theatrical productions and activities.
Troupe #5964 is a branch of the Educational Theatre Association. Through participation in the troupe, a student has an opportunity to develop skills, build positive relationships and gain a sense of self-satisfaction, accomplishment, and pride. That participation is a privilege and demands responsibility on the part of the student.
