School Choice Transfers - Public Notice
NOTICE TO PARENTS WHO HAVE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN A SCHOOL AS A RESULT OF TITLE I SCHOOL CHOICE
On July 19, 2012 South Carolina received a waiver of certain No Child Left Behind (NCLB)/Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requirements. That waiver has since had several approved amendments. The purpose of this notice is to help you understand what the most recent waiver will mean for you and your child.
Horry County Schools (HCS) no longer offers NCLB/ESEA school choice beginning with the 2014-15 school year.
If your child is enrolled in a school as a result of NCLB/ESEA school choice, he or she is entitled to remain in that school through the highest grade served by the school; however, the school district will no longer provide transportation. Parents are responsible for providing all transportation.
Any new transfer requests for the 2019-2020 school year need to be made through the Office of Student Affairs.
