Gifted and Talented Education at Myrtle Beach Primary
The mission of the gifted education at MBP is to maximize the potential of gifted and talented and high performing third grade students by providing programs and services that match their unique characteristics and needs. Gifted and Talented instruction is provided by three certified and highly-qualified teachers who hold an endorsement in Gifted Education.
Gifted and talented and high performing students have a right to an appropriate education, one grounded in the recognition of individual differences and unique learning needs.
Gifted and talented and high performing students need a curriculum responsive to their individual learning rates and styles.
Gifted and talented and high performing students learn best in an instructional environment that encourages and nurtures inquiry, flexibility, critical and creative thinking.
Students are served in either reading, math, or both. Students identified for services are served ninety minutes per day if identified for reading services and sixty minutes per day if identified for math. The services are provided by a G&T endorsed teacher.
Gifted and talented students will be identified through state guidelines.
High performing students will be identified through the use of test scores and classroom performance.
