2nd Grade Teacher
Hello, my name is Jennifer Scratcher.
I am a very enthusiastic teacher, starting my 4th year as a 2nd Grade Teacher at MBE. I am a proud graduate of Coastal Carolina University and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and am currently pursuing my Master's degree in Learning and Teaching with a specialization in Instructional Technology. Go Chanticleers! I taught 8th grade Science and Social Studies for two years at St. James Middle school upon graduating. In 2001 I moved to Pittsburgh, PA and lived there for 7 years working as a Career Advisor with Triangle Technical College. I met my husband and we moved back to Myrtle Beach in 2008. I went back to St. James where I taught 7th grade Science and Social Studies for a year. I took three years off from teaching to stay at home and raise my two handsome boys. I started at MBE as a long term paraprofessional in a resource classroom and then moved to Reading Intervention. I was hired in 2013 as a 2nd grade teacher and have loved every minute of it! I have found Second Grade to be the school year with the most marvel and magic, as it is one of the most important and fundamental years in a child's education. I am truly passionate about what I do.
My family away from school includes my two boys who are currently in 2nd and 3rd grade here at MBE and my husband of 10 blissful years of marriage. We also have a fur-baby, a cat named BoBo. Please don't tell him he's a cat. He is in complete denial...
Adventure, exploration, discovery, and creativity are experiences I intend to provide my students with this year, so ad to inspire a life-long love for learning. He or she will have a wonderful year I'm sure, discovering talents and a new cinfidence that comes from learning, making new friends, and developing the great potential each child has within.
My philosophy is to provide an interesting, challenging, learning environment where my students will flourish socially and academically. They in turn can give their best effort in all they do at school. I believe that a community "happily" working together, teachers, parents, and school staff can help our students accomplish this. I am looking forward to another exciting year!
