In 14-15, Seahawk New Tech was in its second year of implementation. In 15-16, we successfully added a grade 11 component which includes English 3 (CP/H), US History (CP/H), Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus H and Chemistry (CP/H). We also added another special education co-teacher which allows us to have co-teaching at each of the three grade levels. We added 3 general education teachers to take our total staff to 14. We consider the growth an achievement and are planning for grade 12 for 16-17. We have been able to network and partner with our community leaders who have expressed an interest in working with our students and out school. This collaboration piece will allow our student to have a vision for New Tech beyond their school experience.
Our students have been engaged in relevant and authentic projects at all grade levels in all subjects. We have allowed the 3rd year SNT students to become mentors to the younger students through open houses, SNT celebrations, and off-campus speaking engagements. WMBF News featured a project SNT 10th and 11th grade students sponsored within our school and across our county. SNT students served as mentors to elementary school high-risk students at a neighboring school within our district. This is the second year we have engaged in a mentoring program.
Seahawk New Tech Data reveals that our students are outperforming Myrtle Beach High School students as well as Horry County Students. We are very proud of the accomplishments of our students and staff at all grade levels.
