ACT
The annual ACT average for the Diploma candidates exceeds significantly the national average.
Diplomas awarded
Since our first graduating class in 2000, 186 IB Diploma candidates have been awarded the IB Diploma for an average passing rate of nearly 92%. The international average is nearly 80%.
International ROV Competition in Hawaii
Socastee High's ROV Teach (Robotic Operated Vehicle) won the regional competition in the Spring of 2010 and competed in the International Competition in Hawaii in June of 2010. In 2011, the team competed in Houston, Texas. In 2012, the team competed in Orlando, Florida. All participants were IB students.
National Merit Semifinalists, Finalists, and Scholars
A commendable number of Socastee High IB students have been named National Merit Semifinalists, Finalists, and Scholars.
Newsweek Magazine recognition
Newsweek Magazine has included Socastee High School on its list of Top U.S. High Schools five consecutive years! This distinction was awarded to the top six percent of high schools in which there is an average of at least one AP, IB or Cambridge examination for each graduating senior in the school's senior class.
Presidential Scholars
Beginning in 2004, several SHS IB students have been nominated for the Presidential Scholars Award.

The SHS IB is an annual leader among the Diploma programs for exam results and certificates awarded.
SAT
The annual SAT average for the SHS IB Diploma candidates exceeds significantly the national average. The 2013 SAT average was the highest for all Horry County high schools.University recognition
The IB is recognized as leader in international education and has earned much respect among the highly selective universities in both the United States and abroad.
Beginning in 2001, SHS IB students began earning acceptance to Ivy League schools. SHS IB students have been accepted to all of the Ivy League schools - Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Harvard, Princeton, Penn, and Yale; however, they have chosen to attend Brown, Harvard, Princeton, and Yale. In addition, former SHS IB students have studied in Australia, Canada, China, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Great Britain, Mali, Morocco, and Spain.
Furthermore, two SHS IB students have attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and two others have attended the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis.
Former SHS IB students have continued their graduate education at Dartmouth, Duke, George Washington, Georgia, Harvard, the Mayo Clinic, the Medical University of South Carolina, New York University School of Law, Roger Williams School of Law, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and others.
