    The Social Studies department specializes in teaching World Geography, Government & Economics, US History, and Psychology.  We offer sections of CP (College Prep), Honors, and AP (Advance Placement). Our department is made up of 15 teachers.

    Tommy Norwood
    A graduate of Elon University, while attending Elon he served as an offensive line coach at Eastern Guilford.  Upon graduation his first coaching job was at Northwood High School in Pittsboro, NC.  At Northwood he served as the Offensive Coordinator and coached the quarterbacks and running backs.  Coach’s next job was an assistant at Ragsdale for three years as the running back coach.  Coach Norwood left Ragsdale for Southeast Guilford, where he was their Head Coach for 12 years and the Athletic Director for six years.  In 1998 the opportunity to come back to Ragsdale as their head coach took place.  Coach Norwood has been an Assistant Coach in the East-West All Star game along with the prestigious Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.  He has served on numerous state committees:  North Carolina Coaches Association, President of the North Carolina Football Coaches Association and is currently the President of the Corrigan-Faircloth Chapter of the College Hall of Fame.    Coach Norwood’s wife Is Sharon and they have one son Ty and his wife Morgan.  Ty is currently coaching/teaching at Southern Guilford.

    Hello.  My name is Jarret “JP” Price.  I currently teach Government & Economics and World Geography at St. James High School.  I also serve as the JV Head football coach and Offensive Coordinator for the Varsity football team.  This is my first year at St. James High School, as my family and I moved to the area in July.  I graduated high school from South Columbus High School in North Carolina.  I attended and graduated with degree in Secondary Social Studies Education from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2008.  In 2009, I married my beautiful wife Kaycee Price and we moved to Wallace, North Carolina.  We have three kids, 2 boys and 1 girl.  They are Knox Price, Laynee Jo Price, and Jett Price.  We are excited to be here, and Go Sharks!
