Chick-fil-A Leader Academy is a national high school program focused on impact through actions such as community service, academics, and leadership potential. Students involved attend monthly leadership training to further develop their leadership skills. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.The DECA experience starts in the classroom where students learn business concepts in preparation for college and careers. A powerful instructional component, DECA brings the classroom to life by empowering the teacher-advisor to make learning relevant with educational programs that integrate into classroom instruction, apply learning, connect to business and promote competition. The successful integration of each of these four interconnected components, also part of DECA’s guiding principles, results in a strong program that produces college- and career-ready students.

Our mission is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Science Education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader, members develop skill for the life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career and technical preparation. The FCCLA will be involved in fundraising for different community projects and carrying out family and community needs through SJHS and the surrounding community. Some of our projects are: Christmas Stockings for the Angel Tree children, Newborn Baby Hats, Nursing Home Senior Prom, and many other projects that the Club decides upon. Come join the fun! -

Frenzies
Club Sponsor: Mrs. Lopez
Frenzies are the backbone of the spirit of SJHS. This club is for those who like to cheer on our athletes at different sporting events. We are also in charge of organizing and leading pep rallies. The Frenzies do whatever we can to support our Sharks such as supplying sports fans with spirit gear at games, painting signs, recognizing our Sharks at pep rallies, tailgating before football games and traveling together to away games to support our Sharks. We also raise money for charities, sponsor door decorating contests and sell various items like candy grams during the school year to get everyone involved in something fun! If you have spirit and love to show it, this is the club for you! GO SHARKS! -

HOSA enhances the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health sciences technology education students or therefore, helping students meet the needs of the health care community. If you have a 3.5 GPA and no referrals, you qualify for the NTHS and may wear that cord for graduation. Dues are $25. -

Students who meet the following criteria will be invited to be considered for membership in the National Honor Society during the fall of their Junior or Senior year. a) a cumulative GPA of 4.50 or higher, b) no referrals during the 12 month period prior to selection, c)demonstrate good character, leadership, and service. Soul Stepperz
Sponsor: Ms. Oliver
Soul Stepperz is a team that performs a unique percussive dance form that originated in Africa. Participants use their entire body to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken work, and hand claps.
The purpose of the Soul Stepperz is to create a place of unity and diversity through stepping and group creativity. The team’s primary responsibility is to entertain and create a sense of pride, in not only our school, but in the community as well. Members have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and give back to their community through service projects and other activities.

Tri-M Music Honor Society
Sponsor: Mr. Capps & Mr. Bedwell
Tri-M Music Honor Society (Modern Music Masters) is an international music honor society designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements, reward them for their accomplishments and service activities, and to inspire other students to excel at music and leadership.Students who meet the following criteria are invited to join. Candidates are selected from school music students that exhibit exceptional scholarship, leadership, service, and character; candidates must be enrolled in a school-sponsored music ensemble and/or class for the current school year and be nominated by their director; candidates must have at least an A grade point in music with at least a 3.5 unweighted overall grade point average or better in other academic subjects; candidates may not have any discipline referrals the semester in which they are nominated or throughout the remainder of their high school career. Tri-M members will also be expected to accumulate at least 30 hours of service per calendar year.
