Our mission is the advancement of the Olympic Sport of archery by nurturing existing archers, cultivating new archers and advancing the sport through caring coaching and leading by professional example. Our team members consist of St. James High School students “7-12 grade” who consistently display academic excellence with a commitment to exhibiting sportsmanship like conduct on and off the range. The purpose of the Archery Team is to give students an opportunity to participate in an alternative sport program than the standard football or basketball. The coaches are SFC Patrick Currie and LTC Scott Bartley. Students will learn the basic fundaments of shooting Olympic style archery shooting. The open practices are weekly afternoon from 3:30 to 5:00 at the St James Archery Arena which will be posted in the JROTC area. Starting in January, we form two high school teams consisting of up to 24 of the top archers from JROTC and the school. The practices will change to accommodate our tournament teams. The teams will participate in local tournaments and the state National Archery in the Schools and NASP region and state tournaments, with the opportunity to qualify for the National tournament. Once the team is chosen additional practices will be necessary. There are no dues to join the ST James Archery team; however fund will be required during the year to help cover the cost of the equipment, t-shirt, tournaments, and arrows. Each team will be given a goal of how much they must provide to the team to meet expenses during the school year.
