April 2024 Congratulations to Mr. Raul Velasco
Mr. Velasco was nominated by one of his former students to receive the Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction by the National Society of High School Scholars. He received this award for his excellence in teaching and for the encouragement of, and dedication to, the academic success of students. February 17, 2023 One of SJH's own has received another award! Emily Scheffler has been awarded the South Carolina Council for Exceptional Children Rookie Teacher of the Year award. Emily will receive this award at the SC CEC luncheon in Charleston on February 17th.
November 2, 2022 SJHS Teacher Wins Award for Excellence in Career Education
Emily Scheffler, a special education teacher at St. James High School, has been awarded the Gary Bates National Memorial Award for Excellence in Career Education. As the winner, she will receive an award to display in her classroom, recognition at the 2022 fall conference of the National Council of Administrators of Special Education, and a cash prize of $1,000.
This is the second year that the award has been in existence, and it is given annually to an educator who has used Education Associates’ Project Discovery or Achieve Life Skills curricula to make a significant, positive impact in students’ lives and in the community.

May 2, 2022 Marissa Pipkin-Jones
I am very happy to share the Family and Consumer Science achievement that Mrs. Pipkn-Jones will receive from the AAFCS Nationals. ( AAFCS - American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences)
She will be recognized as the Affiliate Teacher of the Year during the AAFCS National Conference in Orlando, Florida this June 25-27, 2022.
