Assistant Principal - Doreen Wheat

My name is Doreen Wheat and I am honored to serve Waccamaw Elementary as one of the assistant principals. This is my eighteenth year in Education, nine, which have been at Waccamaw. 

After receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the College of Staten Island, I moved to South Carolina where I taught first, fourth, and fifth grade. After teaching for several years, I then became an Elementary Instructional Coach to help support teachers and students.

 I then attended Coastal Carolina University where I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. When I started working at Waccamaw I became a part time Lead Interventionist and part time assistant principal. After serving in that role for two years, I then became one of Waccamaw’s full time assistant principals. 

I look forward to working with the students, staff, families, and community members of 

Waccamaw Elementary to make this the best year yet!
