Rise With Reading is more than an initiative. It's a county-wide movement based on the belief that every child in Horry County deserves the opportunity to be a strong, confident reader.

HCS Rise with Reading Logo
The main goal of Rise With Reading is for at least 95% of HCS students to be able to read at or above their grade level by 2030.

While HCS is using literacy-improvement strategies for every student at every grade level, we can’t do it alone. Literacy is a community’s shared responsibility. That’s why we’re offering strategies and resources for parents and family members to build literacy at home, and why we’re partnering with local organizations to create additional opportunities to promote literacy in and out of school.
