FBLA / DECA Clubs
DECA
Club Sponsor: Ms. Oliver
Everybody asks what is the difference between FBLA and DECA? They are very similar because they are run by student officers, participate in community activities, and offer competitions on local, state, and national levels. The difference is, DECA aligns with the finance, marketing, and management content that is taught in the Virtual Enterprise program. School-based enterprises are effective educational tools in helping to prepare students for the transition from school to work or college. For many students, they provide the first work experience; for others, they provide an opportunity to build management, supervision and leadership skills. While some in the education community have only recently discovered the value of school-based enterprises, VE educators and DECA advisors have used them as a powerful teaching tool for more than four decades. If you have a 3.5 GPA and no referrals, you qualify for NTHS so you can wear the cords for graduation! Dues are $40.
FBLA
Club Sponsor:
Everybody asks what is FBLA and what do they do? It is a STUDENT ORGANIZATION, not a club like all the rest. It is run by student officers and committees that do everything – we participate in the Heart Walk, Cancer Walk, and March of Dimes; we collect food in the fall for Street Reach, sponsor a family in need during the holidays, and even clean the beach for Earth Day – that is just some of the community service events! We do fundraisers to help pay for social activities each month and travel for leadership conferences and competitions throughout the year. As a member of FBLA, you might even get the job on the spot! You build your college application and job resume, meet local business leaders, experience the rewards of volunteering, and participate in various levels of competitions. If you have a 3.5 GPA and no referrals, you qualify for NTHS so you can wear the cords for graduation! Dues are $25. -
