Athletics
St. James Middle School students have the opportunity to play football and basketball on the school teams. SJM also has its own cheerleading squad. Each of these sports require try-outs.
Our students also have the opportunity to try-out and participate in sports offered by St. James High, such as lacrosse, swimming, cross-country, track, soccer, tennis, golf, wrestling, and baseball.
HCS Middle and High School students planning on participating in interscholastic athletics during the 2017-18 school year must have a pre-participation physical on file in their high school's athletic office/athletic training room BEFORE they can participate in practices and games. Physicals for the 2017-18 school year are valid from April 1, 2017 - June 30, 2018. Students and parents are encouraged to obtain a physical as soon as possible in anticipation of the upcoming sports seasons. Forms are available through your school's athletic training room or may be accessed here.
If you should have any questions or concerns about this process, please do not hesitate to contact the Athletic Trainer at your child’s high school.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Physical forms MUST be signed by a licensed medical doctor in South Carolina or a Certified Physician’s Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner practicing under the supervision of a licensed South Carolina MD or DO. Chiropractor signatures are NOT valid!!
Also, ALL forms must be completed in full, signed, and dated where indicated. Incomplete forms will NOT be accepted and students will not be able to participate until all completed forms are on file.
Turn ALL forms to the sports medicine department at your child’s high school before their first practice.
